The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every individual member has the opportunity to develop oral communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. At Sunrise Toastmasters, we provide a welcoming, safe environment to anyone looking for a way to improve their public speaking, mature as a leader, or find a community of people striving towards self-improvement.

What does a typical meeting look like?
Introduction: The Club President welcomes everyone, shares announcements, and introduces the day’s Toastmaster, who will host the meeting.
Table Topics: A topic is introduced by that week’s Topic Master, and we go around the table and everyone is given one minute to speak on the subject. Guests are not obliged to participate, but we love it when they do!
The Speeches: Usually there are two speakers scheduled for each meeting. The speeches are typically 5-10 minutes long. Everyone in attendance has a chance to provide written feedback to both speakers.
The Evaluations: In addition to the written evaluations, two people provide oral evaluations for the speeches.
Wrap up: Our grammarian shares their tally of “ums and ahs”, guests are given a chance to share their perspective on the meeting, and any final club announcements are made.
